{nyc}

Time seems to be flying. I never blogged about my fantastic trip to the annual Art History conference, CAA in February. We had a great few days--our session was really well attended, I got to see old colleagues & friends, and enjoyed one afternoon on the town. We also had an excellent lunch after our panel at Bar Americain, a Bobby Flay restaurant.
I got a super good deal at the Hotel Mela and since the conference was near Times Square, it made sense to stay close by.

 Walked along fifth avenue & through Central Park to get to the Met...

 & then a lovely afternoon in Nolita
{ahhh Mimosas!}
 This little gem we found was sooooooooooo good & just what we needed after a long conference. Balaboosta is just so cute, even the menu is adorable:

Following our decadent lunch, we wandered through Chinatown where they were having a Chinese New Year parade...and then we stumbled upon this lovely bakery in the west village, Pasticceria Rocco with a mind-boggling menu & choices of sweets:

That night we met with former professors/supervisors for prosecco at the Met balcony bar, where a live band was playing. it was divine!

 Cheerio for now,

{off to nyc this week}

{concrete jungle. photo taken by moi the last time I was in nyc}
So I am off to NYC this coming week for CAA. I am looking forward to enjoying the sights & sounds of the city again...hoping to eat some great food, sip some yummy wine, visit with friends, & hear some inspiring art historians.
On Thursday night I'm attending a Courtauld Alumni Reception, "A celebration of Cézanne's Card-Players at The Met." The reception will take place in the home of Courtauld alumna and gallery owner, Eugenia McGrath Korossy, and will include various presentations, & most importantly, wine & mingling! If Korossy's Bahamian home is anything to go by, featured on Elle Decor, I think we're in for a treat:

This is a chance to meet other Courtauld alumni in North America, but also to celebrate the Cézanne's Card Players exhibition (organized by The Courtauld Gallery), which opens that same week at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
I am staying in Manhattan this time. I've booked a hotel near the Hilton Conference Hotel & am looking forward to being smackdown in the thick of things, just a saunter from Central Park, the New York Public Library, & the shops on 5th Avenue. Blogs to follow for sure, so stay tuned.
