{hello 2016!}

{HAPPY NEW YEAR!}
Hello fab blog readers!
Did you have a great holiday? Are you eager to welcome in 2016 and all the new and exciting things it might bring? Have you spent some time reflecting on 2015? I'd have to say my big accomplishment and life-changing moment of 2015 was buying a house and renovating it (& hosting my first Christmas party in it)!
I spent New Year's Eve with my family in Essex and then the first few days of 2016 were spent with family & friends going for lovely walks...
The pictures say it all!

{quotable thursdays}

{steps}
As we near the end of January, we might begin to feel that all our new year's resolutions are fading away as the steps towards them become harder and harder.
I have been reflecting a lot recently on the struggles I faced on the road to where I am--job application after job application, rejected articles, mean-spirited peer review feedback etc... We often focus on the negative, but each job application was practice towards a better application, each peer review advice led me to better writing & a better argument...
The smallest steps in research--trolling through an archive & choosing to record some insignificant detail-- are the things that shape the larger project in the end (the insignificant often becomes the significant).
So hang in there, and keep walking, even if you're only taking baby steps...
{take that step}

{Those small steps might just lead you to Pemberley!}

{quotable thursdays}

Happy 2015!!!
I've just returned from three weeks in South America, which I spent with my family. It was DIVINE!
Now I'm back to a long list of to-dos, deadlines to meet, and London rain...but I'm determined to have a wonderful 2015... & to start off this year of blog posts, here is an important quote:
{smiles}
While big accomplishments are important too, it's also the simple moments, the time we take out of our busy lives to smile and spend it with the people who matter most to us.

{LOVE! me & some of my nieces & nephews on the coast of Ecuador, Dec 2014}

So, let this be a new year's resolution--put down the phone, step away from the email, and take a moment to smile, appreciate life and the people around you who make life worth living.

ps: loads of pics of Ecuador to come! I just have to go through the 779 photos I took!

{quotable thursdays/new year 2014}

{pink & sparkly champagne!}

Welcome to 2014 dear readers!!

You may have felt like this was your motto on NYE:
{champagne the answer?}
But honestly, I think this should be the motto for 2014:
{bright words from a bright man}
Make 2014 be a year of happenings...get out there and do things!

{CHEERS to a new year of accomplishing things}
{happy 2014!!}
& because I can't resist fancy dresses...and I never get enough occasions to wear them, here are some fab options for fancy dresses that speak to NYE and celebrating a new year:
Perfect NYE outfit.
{gorgeous wintry sparkly look!}
ZsaZsa Bellagio – Like No Other: Shabbyish
{I love everything about this image: the dress & the old room}

{too bad everyday isn't a fancy dress day!}

May this year be prosperous and full of accomplishments!!
