{quotable thursdays}

I'm not going to lie. I'm overwhelmed. I've got too much to do.
But the sun is shining so here's my quote for today:
{stay positive!}

{quotable thursdays}

I ventured out briefly to enjoy my garden in a moment of sunshine and what a treat to see the flowers beginning to wake up post-snow!

{quotable thursdays}

At this time of year, I often feel the grey close in and it feels like everyday is a long toil to get through. But then I see the bulbs in the soil beginning to sprout, and I remember that soon we'll be inundated with spring flowers and that warmer, lighter, brighter days are on their way.
There is beauty in the knowledge that spring is on its way, but there is also faith and hope in that knowledge.
I think back to the autumn when I planted my bulbs and the belief I had in tomorrow...wise words from Audrey:

{quotable thursdays}

Hello World!
I'm back--back in England, and hopefully back (shortly) to health. I came down with a terrible terrrible flu in Genoa and was having to lie low for quite some time. I'm still feeling ill, but bit by bit I think I'm on the mend.
{spring!}
With that, I feel like things can only get better. My health can only improve, and the weather is just a little warmer and just a little brighter today, which makes me think...spring might just be on its way!
I've got some lovely tulips adorning my beautiful new/old vintage table cloth I bought in Italy at the antiques market (which needs ironing, but never mind!)

So much to catch up on, but that'll wait until I'm really better. I'm trying to do only essential things these days in order to get better as fast as I can.

A Bank Holiday here awaits us in the UK this weekend-the sign that spring is on its way (even if this chilly weather is telling us otherwise)!
So, a quote about the possibilities of great things ahead:

Enjoy your weekend!

{Paris in the spring time, round 2? yes please!}

hi lovely readers,
I'm off to Paris this weekend-yipeeeeeee!!!
If you recall, I visited the city last year in March, and it was lovely weather, so fingers crossed I'll get some more lovely printemps weather (it's absolutely glorious today in London)! I'm visiting a dear friend, so it'll be a fun, girly weekend, while I also hope to stop in at the Louvre for some work...
Here are a few fave pics from last year...la vie est belle!

{springtime in the uk}

Spring has finally arrived in England-the birds are singing, the flowers are out & the sun is shining!
For Easter, I went to my cousins', we visited some lovely gardens and homes and then we also spent one fabulous night in a fantastic old hotel...
Here are the pics to prove it.
{a lovely walk}

{Clare Priory--notice how the flowers match the pink building!}

{beautiful old church in Suffolk, where we went for a beautiful walk, beginning in the charming village of Hartest}

{fantastic library at Nymans}

{my dream library!}

{yes, indeed! this was our accommodation for the night--my window was the furthest balcony to the left}
{a room with a view!}

{I could live here!}

{quotable thursdays-maundy thursday}

For Christians, today is Maundy Thursday, marking the day of the Last Supper and when Christ washed his disciples' feet:
'If I then, your Lord and Teacher have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet' (John 13:14).

Whatever your religious leanings are, the message is clear: we ought to take care of our fellow human beings and we ought to love and serve others as we would want ourselves to be. It is a simple message that is perhaps more pressing than it ever has been, with continued warfare around the world, an emphasis on the Self in western culture, and the increasing domination of electronic devices that seem to make us both attached and detached from the people around us.

A few pics from Easter in my flat last year:

I wish you all a Happy Easter-I'm spending it with my cousins, which I know will be fab. Pictures to come!

{quotable thursdays}

 And after April, when May follows,
And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows!
Hark, where my blossomed pear-tree in the hedge
Leans to the field and scatters on the clover
-Robert Browning, Home-Thoughts, From Abroad

{spring!}

I realise it's Friday but better late than never. Last week this time I was just getting out of knee surgery. It has been a fairly smooth recovery--I'm still learning to walk again and trying to rebuild my muscles, but all seems to be going well.
My mum left today, which I'm feeling a little sad about...but since I was restricted to lying about all day, we had plenty of opportunity to catch up and chat and drink copious cups of tea! (pics of her visit to follow)

I'm hoping that this will be the end of my knee woes, and that this feeling of spring that is in the air is a sign of renewal, rejuvenation and new beginnings for this knee. There is some concern that what they found in the knee is a sign of a more serious condition, but we won't know until the biopsy results come back, and for now, I will rejoice in having the bit removed that was causing me so much pain.
Happy spring!
{looking forward to getting out this spring/summer!}
